ACSTL Ambassadors

Help Us Grow.

We are excited to announced the launch of the ACSTL Ambassadors! The AmeriCorps St. Louis (ACSTL) Ambassadors will play a critical role in assisting AmeriCorps St. Louis efforts in outreach, recruitment, event planning and fundraising.

  • The AmeriCorps St. Louis (ACSTL) Ambassadors will play a critical role in assisting AmeriCorps St. Louis efforts in outreach, recruitment, event planning and fundraising.

ACSTL Ambassadors will consist of 8-15 members as well as an AmeriCorps St. Louis Staff liaison. The goal of the Ambassadors is to increase public awareness for AmeriCorps St. Louis, strengthen our alumni network, bolster recruitment efforts, and explore new fundraising and development opportunities.

    • Attend: Ambassadors must attend at least 50% of calls/meetings/events each year. Ambassadors will meet face-to-face quarterly. While face-to-face meetings are important for engagement, it is understood that meetings may be held virtually or Ambassadors may choose to attend virtually. ACSTL estimates the time commitment to serve as an Ambassador to be about 5 hours per month. Ambassadors should be open to a 1-year term, with an opportunity to renew up to 3 years.

    • Support Service Projects: Ambassadors should visit a program, project, and/or service day at least once during their term to integrate with Staff and Members.

    • Leverage Network: When appropriate, Ambassadors should leverage their professional, social, and other networks for the benefit of the organization. Ambassadors should also look to support ACSTL through a recurring financial contribution, in-kind support, and/or assist in the solicitation of a financial contribution from your network.

    • Participate on a Committee: Committees may include: Outreach/Events/Fundraising, Recruitment, and Member Experience. Each Ambassador is expected to regularly participate in at least one committee that they have agreed to be a part of.

      • Outreach/Events/Fundraising
        - ACSTL at outreach and community events
        - Host or assist in planning fundraising events (restaurant give back nights, donation drives, annual fundraising event - Share the Warmth, block party)

      • Recruitment
        - Represent ACSTL at career fairs
        - Conduct Member interviews

      • Member Experience
        -
        Professional connection, mentor, trainings
        - Supplemental benefits
        - Sharing personal experiences

  • ACSTL will have a dedicated Staff Liaison to support the Ambassadors. Jane Kersch will serve as the Staff Liaison and will partake in all events, meetings, and opportunities. The role of the staff liaison will include:

    • Supporting governance structure of Ambassadors

    • Coordinating meeting times and invites

    • Capturing meeting minutes and dissemination of information

  • To have a robust working group, we are looking for 8-15 Alumni spanning multiple years and eras of ACSTL programming. To support a diverse perspective, we ask that no more than 3 individuals that served during the same program year, serve as Ambassadors at the same time.

In an effort to support active engagement, we hope to have at least 75% of the Ambassadors be based in the St. Louis area and able to be present at meetings and functions. Ambassadors will plan to conduct Quarterly Business Meetings and participate in Monthly Social Events/Service Activities.

    • ACSTL swag (t-shirt/sweatshirt, carabiner, water bottle, stickers, etc)

    • Discounted registration at ticketed ACSTL events

    • Supporting the next generation of AmeriCorps Members

    • Professional development opportunities (chairing a committee, representing ACSTL in a more official capacity, etc)

    • Supporting a positive impact at a local level and forming relationships with other young professionals in the area.

  • Interested individuals are invited to submit their APPLICATION OF INTEREST FORM. In addition to the application form, individuals should include, as an attachment to the application form, either a resume or a link to a current LinkedIn profile. For any questions, contact Jane Kersch at jane@americorps-stl.org

    Ambassador Key Selection Criteria

ACSTL Ambassadors should include four key selection criteria it uses as it looks to the viability of any applicant for the Ambassador role. They are:

    • Diverse Perspective: ACSTL strongly believes the organization is best served when it has supporters that represent a diverse set of backgrounds, lived experiences and perspectives. Our vision is to be an organization where a diverse mix of talented people want to join, stay, and grow. Ambassador candidates should have a demonstrated commitment to promoting diversity, inclusion, and cross-cultural competence in the workplace and non-profit communities served.

*All qualified applicants will receive consideration without regard to sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, race, color, religion, national origin, disability, Veteran status, age, or any other protected characteristic.

    • Skills and Experience: It is important Ambassadors have a broad set of skills and experiences to support the team. We are actively seeking candidates who possess skills and experience in any of the following areas: legal, financial, and digital/content marketing.

    • Ability to Propel AmeriCorps St. Louis Forward: Not everyone has the same financial capacity to contribute and this is not a deciding factor with regard to becoming an Ambassador; instead a prospective Ambassador should be willing and able to demonstrate how they plan to personally engage and also leverage their network to advance AmeriCorps St. Louis forward.
