Adopt a Greenway Volunteer Event

As part of the Great River’s Greenway “Adopt a Greenway” program, AmeriCorps St. Louis has adopted a section of the Mississippi Greenway at Cliff Cave County Park!

Join us this Saturday for the inaugural event. We will meet at Cliff Cave and clear out some garden beds so that they may be replanted later in the spring. Tools and gloves will be provided.

#GiveSTLDay is coming up on Wednesday, May 10th and we're celebrating by hosting an AmeriCorps St. Louis Open House! Supporters, partners and interested recruits are invited to visit our headquarters and learn more about our organization. We'll offer tours throughout the evening and share details and stories about our impact in emergency response, wildland firefighting, environmental stewardship and homeless shelter assistance. The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC), the Young Friends of earthday365, North Newstead Association, and the YMCA are joining together to host the Nature in Your Neighborhood Family Fun Day Saturday, May 6 from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. in St. Louis’ O’Fallon Park, 4343 West Florissant Avenue. Nature in Your Neighborhood Family Fun Day will be centered around the O’Fallon Park YMCA Rec Complex, is free, and open to all ages.

2023 St. Louis Earth Day Festival

 The St. Louis Earth Day Festival is a community tradition to learn about sustainable products and services offered by local businesses and organizations, meet local area non-profits that share Earth Day values, as well as showcasing local entertainment and local Green Dining Alliance restaurants.

Do you want to help advocate for and promote AmeriCorps St. Louis to the St. Louis environmental community? Then join us at the 2023 St. Louis Earth Day Festival! Volunteers are needed to help staff our booth at the event. Open Space Council Trash Bash

The Open Space Council is excited to take the lead as the main organizer of the #TrashBash alongside our partners from Great Rivers GreenwayMSD Project Clear, the River des Peres Watershed Coalition, and Earthways Center. Through coordinated efforts, we annually host the #ConfluenceTrashBash.

*These are part of an extensive effort to provide land and water clean-ups at various sites throughout the Missouri and Mississippi River Confluence and their watersheds in the Spring and the River des Peres and its watersheds in the Fall. These clean-ups help create better habitats for our native species and clean water for our community.

WHAT: Volunteers will be picking up litter and trash around Greenwood Cemetery. Volunteer efforts will be led by the Greenwood Cemetery Preservation Association and AmeriCorps St. Louis.

WHEN: 9:00am, Saturday, April 8th. Volunteer check-in will begin at 8:45 am.

WHERE: Greenwood Cemetery, 6571 St Louis Ave, St. Louis, MO 63121 - see map for exact location. 

WHAT TO WEAR:

  • Dress for the weather

  • Wear clothes that you don't mind getting dirty

  • Sturdy close-toed shoes or waterproof boots

  • Hat & sunscreen

WHAT TO BRING:

  • A filled water bottle - we recommend reusable!

  • Insect repellant, if preferred

  • Sturdy gloves, if you prefer your own

2023 Gateway Outdoor Expo Event

With more than 200 exhibit booths and 10,000 attendees expected at this FREE two-day event, the Gateway Outdoor Expo is the premier consumer show and cultural gathering for the St. Louis outdoor community. AmeriCorps St. Louis will be present at this event to talk to attendees about what we do for our community! If you’d like to join us at the event, you can sign up here to help staff our booth.

The Expo will highlight activities such as running, biking, hiking, camping, rock climbing, and paddling, as well as adventure travel, health and wellness, and more.

This year, AmeriCorps St. Louis will be participating in the 2023 Mardi Gras celebration in our beloved Soulard neighborhood! Come join the festive atmosphere of Mardi Gras as AmeriCorps St. Louis will be raising funds by pouring beer and drinks during Grand Parade Day on Saturday, February 18th. Our booth will be located at 700 Carroll Street, right next to the Soulard Farmers Market. Learn more at stlmardigras.org

Mardi Gras Trivia Night

We're happy to announce that Mardi Gras Trivia will take place on Friday, February 10th at 7:30pm at our location in Soulard. We welcome our Alumni and Friends for a fun filled evening together! New this year: we will have raffle items and the winning team will have the opportunity to name one of our new vehicles! Appetizers and beverages included with your entry.

12th Annual Share the Warmth

After a two year hiatus, we are excited to announce that Share The Warmth is back! Share The Warmth is our annual fundraiser to support our "My Mother's House" Emergency Winter Warming Shelter. The event will feature a chili cookoff competition, raffle prizes, live music, and drinks from local breweries! All proceeds will go to fund our services for the unhoused community, which include providing emergency overnight sheltering during the winter months, when temperatures fall below 20 degrees. During these times, the unhoused community face life threatening conditions, and shelter beds are often difficult to access. River des Peres Watershed Festival

Please join us for a fun and educational opportunity at the River des Peres Watershed Festival on October 22nd at Willmore Park from 11 am – to 1 pm! Bob Case will be performing live while volunteers enjoy food and visit with community organizations to learn about keeping our watershed healthy. This festival features Passport to Clean Water by Open Space Council. This educational program is geared towards kids aged 5-18 and their families. Learn how you can save water and protect water resources in your home and community. There will be prizes for Unique Trash Find Contest. Trash Bash volunteers and the public are invited to attend the festival.
